Colorado grocery workers contracts extended again
5 August 2009
DENVER (AP) - A union representing Colorado grocery workers says King Soopers and Safeway have agreed to extend contracts again through Sept. 12.
United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 represents about 17,000 workers at King Soopers, Safeway and Albertsons whose contracts expired May 9. The companies typically negotiate separately, but their contracts have similar provisions.
Safeway met with union negotiators Tuesday. The sides agreed to meet again Aug. 13 to review options for workers' pension plan.
